Doris F. Spencer, 87, of Jonesville, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2008, at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility. She was born October 30, 1920 in Scipio Twp. to Harold & Hazel (Gillespie) Mann. She was married February 6, 1946 to Tom Spencer and he preceded her in death Jan. 5, 2004.
Mrs. Spencer was a life time resident of Scipio Twp. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters, the National Grange and also a life member of the Mosherville Grange. She was a member of the Jonesville United Methodist Church for over 60 years and was the church organist for over 30 years. Her favorite past times were sewing and playing the piano.
Surviving are four children, Larry (Alice) Beeman, Ada, MI, Margaret (Kris) Brier, Charles (Kathleen) Spencer and Harold (Adrienne) Spencer, all of Jonesville; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was precede in death by her parents, husband, brother and two sisters.
Funeral services for Doris Spencer will be Monday, April 28, 2008, at 11:30 a.m., at the Jonesville United Methodist Church with Pastor Craig Pahl officiating. Interment will follow at Johnson Cemetery in Scipio Twp. The family will receive friends for visitation Sunday from 2-5 p.m., at the Eagle Funeral Home in Jonesville. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Jonesville United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
