John Evers, 81, of Morenci passed away Friday, February 26, 2010, at Tendercare in Adrian. He was born on November 25, 1928, in Ransom the son of Price & Faye (Smith) Evers. On February 20, 1954, in Morenci he married Elva DeMeritt and she survives.
John has lived in the Morenci area most all of his life. He owned & operated a real estate office for forty years. He served US Army during the Korean War from November of 1950 thru October of 1952. He was a member of the Morenci American Legion Post #368 and a lifetime member of the Onsted Coon Club. John loved sports, dogs and Nascar racing (especially Dale Earnhardt).
Besides his wife, Elva, John is survived by four sons, John Evers of Morenci, Steve (Lissa) Evers of Adrian, Craig (Jeanne) Evers of Morenci and Chris (Kandi) Evers of Morenci; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a sister, Donna Lord of Birmingham, Alabama.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at 11:00 AM at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Rev. Dennis Owens officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci. There will be a visitation on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Great Lakes Hospice.
