Ross A. Baker, 92, was called home to his Lord on Earth Day, April 22, 2008. Ross was born October 30,1915 in Hillsdale County, Michigan to Alger and Minnie (Donihue) Baker. After graduation from Jonesville High School in 1934, Ross attended MSU for Agricultural Science. Ross then worked for Consumers Power Company. Ross married Celia I. Kintigh on November 24, 1937 at the home of her parents in Mosherville. Ross and Celia lived most of their married life in Jonesville. Ross purchased a milk truck and hauled milk from dairy farms to milk processing plants. After selling his milk truck in 1949 he became a full time dairy farmer. Ross and Celia raised four sons. Education was very important to Ross and he devoted many years as a member of the School Board in Jonesville. After serving on the School Board, Ross became a supervisor of Fayette Township. He was a life long member of Jonesville United Methodist Church and for most of his adult life he served in many capacities in the church. Ross was a member of the Lions Club. After retiring, he and Celia spent their winters in Florida. Ross is survived by a large family who loved him dearly. They include his sisters, Ruth Thompson and Doris Pfau both of Jonesville; four sons, Roger (Beverly) of Big Rapids, Jerry (Brenda) of Climax, David (Carol) of Schoolcraft and Dale (Carol) of Jonesville. He also leaves 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Celia of 70 years, parents and brothers, Carl and Ralph. Funeral services for Ross Baker will be Saturday, April 26, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., at the Jonesville United Methodist Church with Pastor Craig Pahl officiating. Interment will follow at the Sunset View Cemetery in Jonesville. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the Eagle Funeral Home in Jonesville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Future Building Fund of the Jonesville United Methodist Church or the Diabetes Association.
