Robert L. Benzing, age 71, of Clayton, Michigan passed away Sunday, April 27, 2008, at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was born November 12, 1936 in Wapakoneta, Ohio to Guy Leroy and Alma Louise (Sandkuhl) Benzing. He married Janice Speckman on December 26, 1959 in St. Marys, Ohio and she survives.

Robert retired from General Motors in Adrian after 27 years of service, graduated from St. Marys Memorial High School in 1955, and attended the Ohio State Hwy. Patrol Academy. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Free Mason and Pheasants Forever. He was an all around sportsman while enjoying the outdoors and dearly loved his wife, children and grandchildren.

Surviving Robert besides his wife, Janice, of Clayton is one daughter, Amy (William) Ritchie of Clayton; two sons, Michael (Robin) Benzing of Britton, Michigan and David (Tracie) Benzing of Sand Creek, Michigan; nine grandchildren, Rachel, Teri, Abigail, Joshua, Adam, Chelsea, Wyatt, Daniel and Suzanne; two sisters, Marie Cordier of Centerville, Ohio and Sue Ann Miller of New Bremen, Ohio.

Funeral services for Robert Benzing will be Thursday, May 1, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson with Pastor Larry Brown officiating. Interment will follow at North Dover Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may make memorial contributions to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or the University of Michigan Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.
