Richard A. "Dick" Murray, 79, of Hillsdale, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born August 30, 1928 in Hillsdale to Richard & Ruth (Scammond) Murray. He was married February 24, 1950 to Jo Ann Case and she survives.

Dick retired from WCSR in Hillsdale after 32 years of service. He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corp. serving during WWII. He was a member of the Hillsdale American Legion and the Moose Lodge, serving in both organizations for over 25 years. He was also a member of the Board of Directors for the Hillsdale Rural Fire Dept.

Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Jo Ann, two daughters, Karen (Ralph) Crane, Toledo and Jackie (David) Bowers, Addison; three sons, James (Patsy) Murray, Hillsdale, Bryan Murray, Hillsdale and Kevin (Tabby) Murray, Hudson; 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia (Jack) Wertz, Hillsdale.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers.

Funeral services for Dick Murray will be Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Dr. August Peters officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Hillsdale. The family will receive friends for visitation Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the family of Dick Murray.
