Audrey Emmons Swallow

April 14, 1921 - April 4, 2013

Audrey Emmons Swallow, 91, of Quincy, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 4, 2013. She was born April 14, 1921 to Starr and Miriam (Goodman) Stockwell.

Audrey was born and lived most of her early life on a farm in Algansee Township. She graduated from Western Michigan University where she had been a cheerleader and earned her degree in education. As a young woman she taught in a one room schoolhouse and later in the Coldwater school system. Audrey was a life member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Coldwater.
She and her first husband, Richard Emmons, owned and operated a gas company and hardware store on Hilton Head Island, SC. After Richard’s retirement, they returned to Branch County where Richard passed away. Audrey then married William (Bill) Swallow in 1991 and they lived together in Quincy until his death in 2010. Audrey passed away the day before what would have been her 22nd wedding anniversary with Bill.

Audrey is survived by her great-nephew and niece, Charles Knirk and Laura Schumaker, her step-children, Cindy (Ray) Conley, Susan (Brent) Clock, Diane Swallow, Eileen (Derek) Schroeder, Bill (Barb) Swallow, and Amy (Glenn) Snapp, many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Emmons, and longtime friend, Suzanne Broughman.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 4-6 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel, Quincy. Funeral services are scheduled Monday, April 8, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home with Father Paul Brisbane officiating. Interment will follow in Fisher Hill Cemetery, Algansee Township.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Coldwater.
