Verna R. Cooper

October 5, 1931 - December 2, 2013

Verna R. Cooper, 82, of Litchfield, passed away Monday (12/02/2013) at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility, Coldwater. Born October 5, 1931 in Quincy MI, she was the daughter of William and Bessie (Wendorf) Champion. Verna attended Jonesville High School and worked as a waitress and courier for Simpson Industries. She attended the Litchfield United Methodist Church.

On January 21, 1949 she married Clyde Cooper, Jr. and he preceded her in death in 1989.
Survivors include 1 daughter, Barbara (Michael) Miller of Litchfield; 1 son, Terry (Jacinta) Cooper of Clemsford, Essex, England; 2 sisters, Ruth (Lyle) Rogers of Coldwater; Helen Morris of Battle Creek; 5 brothers, Arthur Champion of Florida, LeRoy Champion of Wyoming, Richard (Mary) Champion of Jackson, William (Marge) Champion of Battle Creek and Lester Champion of Litchfield; 4 grandchildren, Michael (Kristen) Miller of Litchfield, Sandra (Chetan) Patel of Longwood FL, Adam Cooper and Jessica Cooper, both of England; and 5 great-grandchildren, Luke and Jenna Miller of Litchfield and Emily, Sarah, & Ryan Patel of Florida.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Donald, Leonard “Butch”, Harvey, & John Champion and her significant other, Martin VanNorman.

Visitation is scheduled Wednesday, December 11, 2013 from 5-7 PM at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel, Litchfield. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday (Dec. 12th), at the funeral home with Reverends Brent Stille and Clyde Wonders officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Litchfield.

Memorials are suggested to Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility, Litchfield United Methodist Church Food Bank, or the Litchfield Library.
