Ercile Imogene Beem

Ercile I. Beem, 9l, of Hillsdale, passed away Monday (6/11/2012) at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility. She was born March 26, 1921, in Reading Township to Elmer and Susie Belle (Huff) Edwards. She graduated from Camden-Frontier High School in 1939 and attended Michigan State University for one year. Ercile taught piano lessons for 15 years and retired from Reading Schools, where she was a cook for 12 years. She was a former member of the Eastern Star, member of the North Reading Baptist Church where she played the piano for 30 years, and president and member of the North Reading Baptist Mission Circle.

On October 1, 1947, she married Robert Beem and he preceded her in death in 2007. Survivors include one daughter, Aleta Croke of Mt. Pleasant; one son, Stanley Beem of Okeechobee, FL; one brother, E. Dean (JoAnn) Edwards of Grass Lake; one brother-in-law, Mark Farrel of Mason; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Maria Gayle Croke and sister, Beatrice Farrel..

A memorial service will be held Monday (6/18/2012) at 7:00 PM at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Reading with Pastors Don Johnson and Robbie Davis officiating. Interment in Maplewood Cemetery will take place at a later date. Visitation is scheduled Monday from 6:00 PM until time of service. Memorials are suggested to the North Reading Baptist Church.
