Richard James "Jim" Wood
June 27, 1949 - June 13, 2012
Richard James “Jim” Wood, 62, of Quincy, passed away Wednesday (6-13-2012) at the Community Health Center of Branch County. He was born June 27, 1949 in Hillsdale MI to John R. and Theta L. (Burlew) Wood. Jim served in the US Air Force and Air National Guard. He was employed 21 years at Dexter Axle Division, Fremont IN, and retired 2 years ago. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, ice fishing, and making popsicle stick lamps. He loved his family and was considered the best grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Irene (Burch) Wood, whom he married Sept. 12, 2003;
4 daughters, Daneen Reynolds of Quincy; Larena (Stan) Wood Dowell of Coldwater; Lori (Noah) Bump Bowen of Bryan OH; Kara Harper of California; 3 sons, Doug (Jennifer) Wood of Hillsdale; Jeremy Wood of Quincy, Joe Bump of Quincy; his father, John Wood of Florida; 2 sisters, Cindy Welsh and Judy Kise, both of Delaware OH; 2 brothers, Wayne Allen Wood and Thomas Richard Wood; 9 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and 1 great-nephew. His mother preceded him in death.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta MI. Memorials may be made to Mr. Wood’s family. Arrangements were entrusted to Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel, Quincy.
