Arthur N. Thomas

January 19, 1921 - June 12, 2012

Arthur N. Thomas, of Hillsdale, passed away June 12, 2012 at the Laurels of Coldwater. At his request, cremation rites have been accorded, and a private interment will be held at a later date.

Mr. Thomas was born in Detroit MI on January 11, 1921, son of George and Rose (Cook) Thomas. On May 25, 1940, he married Muriel E. Parkinson in Detroit. He was an engineer with Michigan Bell, and upon retirement he farmed in the Reading area for many years.
He is survived by a son, David (Sumie) Thomas; daughter, Jacqueline (Harry) Litchfield; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, and one daughter, Martha Kate Thomas.
Memorials may be made to the Greater Hillsdale Humane Society, Osseo MI.
Arrangements were handled by Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel, Quincy.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Art. I just found out. He was a great man and landlord.He taught me a lot over the 10 years that I knew him. I miss talking to him.I remember he sure loved his red BMW.And driving with the top down. I will always remember him in his green truck too.He will be sadly missed by me. May you rest in Peace. And thank you for all the memories.

so sorry to hear that loss of your dad, he was a great man, miss talking to him and always helping him. when we rented the house from him. miss him telling me about all the stories from the phone company and just back in the old days. he taught me allot the 6 years we lived across the street from him. gonna miss seeing him cursing in his red bmw. i remember the day he bought it, he was so proud of that car, and telling me how fast he would drive it. art will be missed so much. RIP Art, and thanks for the memories. you are missed dearly

I will miss seeing Arthur at the many events at Hillsdale College. I met him about 9 years ago when I first began teaching French at the college and Arthur audited my class. He had a great interest in French music and culture. He had a sharp mind even as he became weaker in the last year. It was a pleasure to see him receive an honorary degree at Convocation in the College Baptist Church a few months ago. He will long be remember by the Hillsdale College community.

We grive for your loss, but at the same time knew his health circumstances and are glad that he's out of discomfort. We enjoyed many years with Mr. Thomas during college and afterwards during the summers as we spent time with him on the farm in Reading. Mr. Thomas was a good man, a wonderful support and a good friend. We miss him dearly, but are glad he's entered into his rest.
