Paul W. "Stoney" Stone
August 8, 1942 - January 21, 2012
Paul W. "Stoney" Stone, 92, of Hillsdale, passed away Saturday January 21, 2012 at the Mac McGuire Skilled Nursing Facility in Hillsdale. He was born July 17, 1919 in Allen Twp. to Oramel J. and Mary (Ellsworth) Stone. He was married August 8, 1942 to Phyllis Louise Emery and she preceded him in death October 16, 1984.
Paul was a graduate of Hillsdale High School and a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force. He was a barber for over 64 years and was the former owner of the Temple Barber Shop and Stoney's Gun Shop. He was a founding member of the Hillsdale County Conservation Club, a life member of the Hillsdale Masonic Lodge #32, and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
Surviving are his daughter, Barbara (Cecil) Blake of Hillsdale; two grandchildren, Dr. Paul (Amanda) Mackie and their children Quinn and Grace, and Master Sergeant Jeffrey (Jennifer) Mackie and their children Johnston, Muriel and Maeve.
Besides his wife, Phyllis, he was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Ruth Spieth and Betty Guise.
Graveside memorial services for Paul Stone will be held Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsdale. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, June 25th, from 6-8 p.m., at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
