Jack Sampson

Jack Sampson, 76, of Morenci passed away Sunday, August 5, 2012, at home. He was born on October 18, 1935, in Morenci the son of Willis & Addie (Sharr) Sampson. On November 19, 1977, in Morenci he married Janet Schmidt and she survives.

Jack was a union painter in Toledo and Adrian, but that was only part of his life history. He moved around a lot when he was younger, living in Oklahoma, Montana and Alaska, but ended up coming back where he lovedthe best and that was Morenci. He enjoyed doing painting in Morenci for whoever needed him and if he had loads of jobs he had to do he never stressed out about it. He just said it gave him something to look forward to. When Jack wasn't painting he was refinishing antique furniture for himself or for someone else who asked for his help. He was an outgoing guy with many friends. Jack was a dedicated Morenci Post #368 Legionnaire and member of Voiture #997, 40et8. He was a person you could count on for anything that was within his power to do. He will be missed beyond words, because above everything else he was quite a guy.

Besides his wife, Jan, Jack is survived by two children, Lisa Mynhier of Fayette, Ohio, and Leonard Seeley of Surprise, Arizona; granddaughter, Chelsea Mynhier; two step sons, Burnell "Butch" Venia Jr. of Fayette, Ohio, and Barry Venia of Wauseon, Ohio,and their children and grandchildren; a brother, Jim (Joyce) Sampson of Chilliwack, British Columbia; and a special nephew, Rick Milroy.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; stepdaughter, Kelly Venia; son in law, Jim Mynhier; three sisters, Betty Gould, Sharrlene Taylor and Mary Potts; two brothers, Bill and Dick "Rabbit" Sampson.

Funeral service will be on Sunday, August 12, 2012, at 2:00 PM at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci. There willbe a visitation on Saturday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
