Lois M. Olson

February 10, 1922 - August 20, 2012

Lois M. Olson, 90, of Morenci, Michigan passed away Monday, August 20, 2012, at Lenawee Medical Care Facility. She was born February 10, 1922, in Canton, Ohio the daughter of Floyd and Ether (Tuttle) Hines. She married Howard Olson and he preceded her in death in May of 1974.

Lois graduated from Michigan State University with a Masters Degree in Education. She taught school in the South Bend, Indiana area for 40 years, attended the Niles Presbyterian Church and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Toastmasters and General Federation of Women's Club.

Surviving Lois are two sisters, Naomi Myers of Waldron, Michigan and Marjorie (Gaylord) Hanna of Traverse City, Michigan; one brother, Leo (Jean) Hines of Defiance, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

At Lois's request cremation has taken place. A visitation will take place at Eagle Funeral Home Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci, Michigan on Saturday, August 25, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. Interment will take place at Mission Hills Cemetery in Niles, Michigan at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Lenawee County or to the family.

Clarification: Mary Working is the past president of the Pi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. Lois was a founding member of the Pi Chapter of DKG, one of 12. .She had been a member since Pi began on June 2, 1948, in Niles, MI, or for 64 continuous years. Lois was instrumental in where we are today because of her active participation and love for DKG. The members who knew Lois have fond memories of her. How fitting it is to show a red rose with her obituary since that is the flower of DKG. Lois would be proud!

On behalf of all of the DKG members, it is with great sadness that we have at the passing of Lois Olson, one of our founding members, who was a member of the Pi Chapter for 64 continuous years. We look forward to meeting some of the family at the time of the Interment at Mission Hills Cemetery in Niles.
