Ellen DeMeritt
January 13, 1916 - September 4, 2012
Ellen DeMeritt, 96 of Sun City Center, Florida, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at the Plaza West Nursing Home. She was born on January 13, 1916, in Lyons, Ohio, the daughter of Robert & Addie (Wheeler) Jones. On October 28, 1931, in Adrian she married Elwood Arthur DeMeritt. He preceded her in death on April 16, 1968.
Ellen lived all her married life in Morenci, moving to Florida in 1968. She worked as a cook and managed the Marathon Truck Stop on US 127, owned Stub's Grill in Morenci, and was the kitchen manager at DeMor Hills Golf Course & Steak House. Ellen was a member of the United Methodist Church in Morenci and in Ruskin, Florida, a life time member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Eagles in Morenci.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Teeters of Howell; daughter in law, Sandra DeMeritt of Sun City Center, Florida; fourgrandchildren, Kathy (Richard) DonLevy, Linda (Dan) Irwin, Robert Jr. (Janice) DeMeritt and Kent (Laurie) Teeters; seven great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Elwood, Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert; and a son in law, Bernard Teeters.
A private burial will take place at the Oak GroveCemetery in Morenci.
Services were handled through the Eagle FuneralHome-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci.
