Martha Jean Jackson, 67, of Reading, Michigan passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at her home after a long battle with cancer.
Martha was born on September 19, 1949, to Leona (Girdham) and Melvin Taylor. On April 30, 1982, she married Larry Jackson. She worked in accounting at several local factories, and retired from Hillsdale Community Health Center in 2014. Martha was a lifetime resident of the Reading area. She was a devoted member of the Reading Church of the Nazarene where she served as Sunday School Superintendant, as well as teaching Sunday school classes and serving on the church board. Martha enjoyed riding on the back of her husband’s motorcycle, cheering on her grand-children at their various sporting events, attending Community Bible Study, reading, and putting together jigsaw puzzles.
Martha is survived by her husband, Larry, and her children, Lynette (Jeff) Clark of Camden, Lei (Greg) Gunthorp of Lagrange, IN, LD (Melissa) Jackson of Matthews, NC, and Erich (Kaua) Jackson, Hawaii. Grandchildren Kasey Clark, Kristyl (Jaap) Fleurkens, Kara Gunthorp, Evan Gunthorp, Cassidy Gunthorp, Clare Jackson, Elle Jackson, Cole Jackson, Madison Jackson, Bailey Jackson, and Keilyn Jackson. Great Grandchildren Tyce & Tessa Fleurkens. And several nieces, nephews, cousins, and very dear friends.
Martha is also survived by her sisters, Judy Dryer of Bryan, OH, and Kim (Dan) Cramer, Hudson, MI, and brother George (Helen) Taylor, Hillsdale, MI. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Phil Taylor, and sister Shirley Weber.
Funeral services for Martha Jean Jackson will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Reading with Pastor Jim Planck officiating. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 6-8 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Reading Church of the Nazarene, the Reading Fire Department, or Hospice of Hillsdale County.
