Donelda C. Potts

Donelda Caroline Potts, 80, longtime resident of Prattville, died Monday, May 15, 2017, at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility, where she had resided for the past several years. Born September 22, 1936, in Morenci, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Caroline (Heck) Hart. She married the love of her life, John H. Potts Sr., on May 19, 1956, in Angola, IN. They shared 58 wonderful years together as husband and wife before his death on December 27, 2014. They are united again in the Kingdom of Heaven.
In addition to serving her family as a nurturing mother and homemaker, she worked outside the home for ten years, sharing her caregiving talents with patients receiving home health care. Her family was the center of her life, and she enjoyed making memories with them, especially on camping and fishing trips. She also enjoyed working with her hands to spread God’s beauty in crafting, flowers, and gardening. A Christian by faith, Donelda was a member of the Prattville Community Church.
Surviving Donelda are four daughters, Linda (Dave) Siegel of Pittsford, Sharon (Jeff) VanDoren of Morenci, Donna (Tom) Halleck of Pittsford, and Mary (Paul) Maxwell of Waldron; three sons, John (Christy) Potts Jr. of Montpelier, OH, Jerry (Susan) Potts of Alvordton, OH, and Mike (Annette) Potts of Camden; twenty grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Donelda was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Marie; grandson Jeffrey; three sisters; and seven brothers.
A funeral service for Donelda will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Prattville Community Church with Pastor Gary Stauffer officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Ransom Township. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson.
