Bernard Dale Connin Jr.

January 11, 1939 - June 30, 2017

Bernard Dale Connin Jr., 78, of Quincy, passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 at Community Health Center of Branch County. He was born January 11, 1939 to Bernard “Dale” Sr. and Evelyn (Sanders) Connin. Bernard married Betty Jean Herendeen on August 13, 1959 and she preceded him in death on December 1, 1991.

He was a very avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, gardening and collecting. Bernard also loved trees. He had been employed at Dana Weather Head in Angola, Indiana where he retired in 1993 after 30 years of employment.

Besides his wife, Carole (Moeller) Connin, whom he married December 15, 1995, Bernard is survived by two daughters, Robin (Tim) Tracy of Pensacola, Florida and Cindy (Steven) Barone of Coldwater; sons, Mick (Onalee) Connin of Quincy, Stacey Connin of Quincy and Brian (Mellissa) Connin of Montgomery; brothers, Roger Connin of Waldron, Allen Connin of Reading and Keith Connin Sr. of Union City; 16 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and nine step children, Marty Gruner, Lorri Gruner, Tricia Garner, Laren Gruner, Paula Martin, Waine Gruner, Hans Gruner, Kyle Gruner and Troy Gruner.

In addition to his wife, Betty, Bernard was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Shane Connin.

Funeral services for Bernard Dale Connin Jr. will be Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Reading with Pastor David Holt officiating. Interment will follow in Fisher Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 3-7 PM at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Branch County 4-H Shooting Sports Program.
