James George Hurley
September 6, 1924 - July 17, 2017
James Hurley, 92, went to his heavenly home on Monday, July 17, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was a native of Allen, Michigan and a resident of Hammond, LA. James proudly served his country in WWII as a Flag Signalman on a Destroyer Escort, while in the United States Navy. He was a member of the American Legion.
James is survived by his wife, Arlene Hurley; daughters, Linda H. Haskell and Twig (John) Bousfield; sisters, Joy Finnegan and Margarite (Larry) Lent and stepdaughters, Sandra (Charles) Markley and Jacqueline Lawton. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Myrtle Hurley; first wife, Sue Tasker Hurley; brothers, Forrest and Douglas Hurley; sister, Kay Sutton; daughter, Brenda Swafford; son, Rodney Hurley; granddaughter, Carrie Everett and grandson, James Swafford.
Funeral services for James George Hurley will be Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Litchfield. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart of Hospice at 15781 Professional Plaza Hammond, LA 70403 in honor of James Hurley.
