Daniel Thomas O'Keefe

Daniel Thomas O’Keefe, 68, of Wheatland Township, died Saturday afternoon, August 19, 2017, at his home. He was born February 17, 1949, in Highland Park, MI, to the late John Francis and Elizabeth Marie (O’Connell) O’Keefe.
A 1967 graduate of University of Detroit Jesuit High School, he furthered his education at Ferris State and graduated in 1979. Dan worked in marketing and sales for Burke Sales and Engineering in Belleville, MI, and later worked as a survey specialist at the University of Michigan, until his diagnosis of cancer led him to retire in October of 2016.
Dan married Renee Marie Clay on July 29, 1995, at their home in rural Hudson, and she survives. An avid U of M football fan, Dan enjoyed golfing, praise and worship, and the beauty of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. He belonged to the Ann Arbor Country Club, was a 30-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous, and belonged to the worship team at his church, House of Mercy.
In addition to his wife of 22 years, Dan is survived by his children, Meghan (Kevin) Kruslemsky of Beverly Hills, MI, Aaron Young of Hudson, Marshall (Whitney) O’Keefe of Ann Arbor, Christopher O’Keefe of Livonia, Megan (Joshua) Baker of Genoa, OH, and James (Jamie) Young of Hudson; siblings, Michael (Julie) O’Keefe of Saline, Colleen (Richard) Currie of Waterford, MI, Patricia (Wayne) Ball of Grand Rapids, Brian (Colleen) O’Keefe of Livonia, and Kathleen (Michael) Garety of Canton; and two grandsons, Tasman Kruslemsky and Micaiah Young.
A funeral service for Dan will be held Friday, August 25, 2017, at Noon at the Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson with Pastor Eric Love officiating. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Thursday afternoon, from 3-7 p.m., and again on Friday for an hour preceding the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
