John Paul Jackson

John Paul Jackson, 79, of Manitou Beach, formerly of Clayton, died Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at Lenawee Medical Care Facility in Adrian, Michigan. He was born May 21, 1938, to Paul T. and Mabel C. (Yeutter) Jackson, in Rome Township.
John met the love of his life, Vivian Young, at the Cadmus Presbyterian Church, and they married in that same church on December 5, 1958. Vivian preceded him in death August 13, 2016.
A 1956 graduate of Onsted High School, John was active in FFA, serving as a state officer. He was also awarded the Junior Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Young Farmer for the State of Michigan Award. He served as a 4-H leader for the Rome Blue Ribbon Club for many years. He was a farmer in the Clayton area for many years, and was later employed by Shoemaker Heating.
John was a saved and baptized member of the West Rome Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school for many years. Later, he taught senior Sunday school at Faith Baptist Church in Adrian.
John is survived by a son, Matthew J. (Renee) Jackson of Adrian; two daughters, Paula (David) Lanquist of Bluffton, OH, and Beth (Keith) Schroeder of Manitou Beach; a sister, Mary Jane Lutz of San Jose, CA; eight grandchildren, Brandon, Austin and Kyle Lanquist; Wesley (Katelund), Evan (Rachael) and Justin Schroeder, and Luke and Owen Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Per John’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service for John will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Faith Baptist Church, 3625 Hunt Rd., Adrian with Pastor Greg Burdine officiating. Friends are welcome to greet the family at visitation for one hour before the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements are being handled by the Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson.
