Richard Conley Mills

Richard Conley Mills, 90, of Mountain View, California and formerly of Hillsdale, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the home of his daughter, Deborah in Mountain View. He was born February 15, 1927 in Hillsdale to Floyd and Golda (Hart) Mills. Richard married Dorothy Holtsberry on December 13, 1947 and celebrated over 69 years of marriage. Dorothy preceded him in death on June 6, 2017.
Richard was a 1945 graduate of Hillsdale High School and went on to attend Hillsdale and Tri-State Colleges. He was co-owner and operator of the Hillsdale Cafe and later of Dick's Dandy Diner on Broad Street with his wife, Dorothy. Richard was an IDS Representative and long-time County Commissioner. He was also a member of the Hillsdale Church of the Nazarene and served his country in the US Navy in WWII. He was a member of the Hillsdale Rotary Club, Gideon's International, and Hillsdale American Legion, Post #53.
Richard is survived by a daughter, Deborah Mills in Mountain View, CA; and a son, Michael Mills in Pasadena, CA.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; sisters, Pauline (Kirby) Aiello and Irene Balk; and brother, F. John Mills.
A joint memorial service for Richard and Dorothy Mills will be held Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at the Hillsdale Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Mark Elliott officiating. Burial will follow at Frontier Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
