Eleanor Morningstar

February 19, 1924 - November 28, 2017

Eleanor Morningstar, 93, of Morenci, and formerly of Fayette, died Tuesday evening, November 28, 2017, at Fairlawn Haven in Archbold. She was born February 19, 1924, in Brooklyn, NY to the late Louis and Rose (Lanza) Bacotti.

Eleanor lived her formative years in New York, where she met the love of her life, Loren Morningstar of Fulton County, OH, who was stationed there in the Merchant Marines. They married three months later on July 27, 1946. Loren and his new bride Eleanor shortly later moved back to Fayette, where they would make their permanent home and raise their family.

Eleanor worked as a bank teller before her marriage, and later would serve as the bookkeeper for Loren’s patented dog food brand, Star Dog Food, situated in Fayette. They co-owned the business for over 47 years, selling at their retirement in 1996. They were longtime parishioners of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Fayette, where Eleanor was a faithful Altar Rosary Society member and enjoyed working the annual turkey bazaars. In later years, they became members of St. Caspar Catholic Parish in Wauseon.

Eleanor loved to read, and would read almost anything that came through the mail, her interest specifically of health topics, and she was always keen on living a healthy lifestyle. She fostered numerous family pets throughout the years and cherished their companionship. Eleanor was most passionate about her family, and she loved having them over for holidays and birthdays, where she would cook her Italian feasts and family favorites.

Surviving are her husband of over 71 years, Loren; three daughters, Rosemary Morningstar, Elizabeth (Benjamin) Jarrell of Morenci, and Marilyn Morningstar of Defiance, OH; two siblings, Anne Pitchford and Lou Bacotti both of New York, NY; three grandchildren, Julia Jarrell, Matthew Jarrell, and Tammy Clement; great-grandchildren, Tequoia Jarrell, Shannon (Brandon) Byers, Tahjanay Jarrell, Antonio Jarrell, Azaan Jarrell, Sydney Brady, Tobie Brady, Salena Brady, Amy (Tommy) Hilyard, and Sam (Amy) Majchrowski; great-great grandchildren, Zehvante Jarrell, Jaiyehl Jarrell, Xander Jarrell, Liam Byers, Brooklyn Hilyard, Logan Hilyard, Connor Brady Jr., and Sophia Brady; and a great-great grandson on the way, Khiland Byers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Bacotti; three brothers-in-law, Donald Myers, Bill Pitchford and Verl Morningstar; two sisters-in-law, Lorena Babb and Jean Bacotti; and a great-grandson, Connor Brady.
