John Dana Limbacher
March 9, 1944 - December 17, 2017
John Dana Limbacher, 73, of Reading, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Borgess Medical Center. He was born March 9, 1944 in Adrian, Michigan to John and Virginia (Pierce) Limbacher. John married Florence “Dubie” Blodgett on June 1, 1968 and she survives.
After high school, John went on to serve his country in the United States Army and then attended Sienna Heights where he received his Bachelors Degree in Engineering. John had been employed as an Engineer with Dow Chemical where he retired. He loved racing sprint cars and go-carts. He enjoyed racing, building engines and race tracks where he was known as “Big John” and “Johnny Lightning”. Those were not his only nicknames though; John’s closest friends and family called him “Harpo”. He also adored fishing and had a talent for building computers. John was known for always helping.
In addition to his wife, Dubie, John is survived by daughter, Dana (Anthony “Toby” ) Deck of Montpelier, Ohio; sons, Jason Limbacher of Commerce, Shane Limbacher of Reading, Jon (Brandi) Limbacher of Montgomery and Rick (Rebecca) Buschmann of Osseo; sisters, Beverly Marowelli of Osseo and Linda Crosby of Temperance; brother, Russel “Orbie” (Deena) Limbacher of Onsted and grandchildren, Shalina Lewis, Alaina Buschmann, Anthony Limbacher, Nevaya Deck, Darion Deck, Ariyana Limbacher and Brooke Buschmann.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services for John Dana Limbacher will be held Saturday, January 13, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Reading. A private family burial will take place in St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on January 13, 2017 from 12:00 until the time of service at the funeral home.
Memorials contributions are suggested to the Epilepsy Association or Borgess Brain and Spine Fund.
