Albert Allen Schmidt
January 4, 1942 - December 26, 2017
Albert Allen Schmidt, 75, of rural Morenci, died unexpectedly late Tuesday evening, December 26, 2017, at Henry Ford Allegiance Health in Jackson, the result of a heart attack. He was born January 4, 1942, in Medina Township, the youngest son of the late Edwin and Bernita (Kutzley) Schmidt.
Albert was a lifelong area resident and crop farmer. He also worked for Wayne Broach and M & S Manufacturing for several years, in addition to delivering grain and stone with his farm truck for many area farmers.
He loved his family, and in later years he especially adored time spent with his grandchildren. Farming was more passion than work to Albert, and he enjoyed the duties of maintaining his property and his equipment. When the work was done, he enjoyed touring on his ATV with his beloved labrador companion, Dorie, and retiring at night to his “easy-chair”.
Albert married the love of his life, Jo Ann Ferris of Morenci, on December 27, 1963, in Blissfield, and they shared 54 wonderful years together as husband and wife. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Marvin (Sandy) Schmidt of Camden; two daughters, Cindy Clark of Morenci and Connie (John) Byard of Morenci; three grandchildren, Brock Clark (and Alana), Fawn Booher, and Clayton Hilton; and five great-grandchildren, Quinten, Levi, Dalton, Gavin, and Braxton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Harold and Junior Schmidt.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation will take place. A memorial service for Albert will be held on Sunday, December 31, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home in Morenci with Rev. William VanValkenburg officiating. The family will receive friends for a visitation for two hours preceding the service, beginning at noon.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may consider memorial contributions in honor of Albert to benefit the Lenawee Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
