Melvin K. Daglow
October 2, 1926 - February 5, 2018
Melvin K. Daglow, 91, of Reading, passed away February 5, 2018 at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility. He was born October 2, 1926 in Allen Township to Clarence and Lena (Finkbiner) Daglow. Melvin married Phyllis Hanselman on January 19, 1947 and she preceded him in death in 2012.
He served his country in the United States Army during WWII Iwo Jima. Melvin had been employed at Stephenson Ford Motor Sales in Reading for 30 years and retired from Reading Schools where he was a custodian for 12 years. He was a member of the Reading American Legion and enjoyed gardening and working with wood.
Melvin is survived by his daughter, Linda Padget of Hillsdale; son, Larry (Sheryl) Daglow of Reading; sister, Maxine Shook of Hudson, Indiana; brother, John (Sharon) Daglow of Camden; grandchildren, Matt (Carrie) Padget, Chrissy (Jake) Conrad, Miranda (Scott) McKinney and Marisa (Justin) Logsdon and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Phyllis, Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clark; son-in-law, Allan Padget and two grandchildren.
Funeral services for Melvin K. Daglow will be Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Reading with Reverend Alan Fenstermaker officiating. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
