Les loved working and being busy. His lifetime of work includes: farming, owning the Peggy Lee Restaurant in Ft. Wayne. In Hillsdale he was a milkman, shoe department manager at Wards for 25 years, shared ownership with the Featherette Beauty Salon, the Palace Cafe and the Hillsdale Motel with his first wife, Betty.

Upon retirement they moved to Charlotte, Michigan and opened Mr. C's Shoes. After they sold the business he worked for Yates Hardware.

Les became single and later married Shirley Crall. They moved to Coldwater, Mi. Where she taught. He worked till he was 86, waiting for Shirley to retire. During that time he worked for McDonalds, a factory, and in the bakery department at Walmart.

Special thanks to his sister Beth for taking Dad into her home after Shirley's death. For three years Beth lovingly helped Dad as he descended deeper into dementia. The last two years he was at Summit Park Assisted Living. The staff was wonderful with him. Deepest thanks.
