David Lee Monahan

David Lee Monahan, 61, of Elm Rd., rural Hudson, died early Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018, at his home, under the care of his family and Hospice of Lenawee. Born May 27, 1956, in Hudson, he was the son of the late Philip and Betty (Irwin) Monahan. He married Sue Sutherland on March 22, 1980, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Coldwater, MI, and she survives.
David grew up in Waldron and graduated with the Waldron Class of 1974, before earning an Associate’s Degree from Jackson Community College. He most recently was employed with Hardy Reed Tool & Die in Manitou Beach.
A lover of motorcycling, he was a longtime member of the Ghost Riders Motorcycle Club. He also enjoyed radio-controlled pulling trucks, and was a member of the NRCTPA. He enjoyed mechanical repairs and constructing with wood.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Sue, are his children, Deanna (Carl) McComb of Osseo, Jessica (Jamie) Seegert of Manitou Beach, Daniel Monahan of Jerome, and Elizabeth Monahan (and Bradley Durling) of Osseo; a granddaughter, Brooklynn Elizabeth McComb; three sisters, Patricia Miller of Henryville, IN, Phyllis (John) Holtz of Dundee, and Barbara (Richard) Koning of Capac, MI; four brothers, Don (Rhonda) Monahan of Waldron, Richard (Angela) Monahan of Tecumseh, and Tracey Monahan of Waldron; and a paternal aunt, Ruth Monahan of Ann Arbor, MI.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson with Father Joseph Krupp officiating. Interment of his cremated remains will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Hudson. The family will receive friends for a visitation for two hours preceding the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
