Bruce A. Draper
June 30, 1953 - May 7, 2018
Bruce A Draper, 64, of Osseo, passed away May 7, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 30, 1953 in Hillsdale to Donald and Phyllis (Lape) Draper. He married Nina (Jones) Draper on December 22, 1973 and she survives.
Bruce graduated from Pittsford High School in 1971. Bruce loved the outdoors and was a lifelong farmer, an inventor and could fix most anything. He also drove semi-truck and enjoyed seeing the western states as he worked. For many years he was an active member of the Michigan Milk Producers Association; the Osseo and Pittsford communities, as he was involved with the Jaycee's, Jefferson Township Board of Review and he helped coordinate and direct the Pittsford Jr. Pro Basketball program for 19 years. He was a fan of all sports, especially basketball, and instilled this love onto his children.
In addition to his wife, Nina, Bruce is survived by daughter Sara (John) Klooster, Grand Rapids; sons, Joseph (Angela) of Reading, Robert (Kimberly) of Grosse Ile, and Daniel (Kelly) of Jackson. He is blessed with 12 grandchildren, Zachary, Michael, Elizabeth, Alexander, Katharine, Benjamin, Lillian, Dylan, Mason, Isabel, Lennon and Stella. Also surviving are siblings, Susan (Brian) Sodergren, Osseo, and Brian (Terri) Draper of Hillsdale; an aunt, Joy Draper, Hillsdale, mother-in-law, Betsy Jones, of Hillsdale; in-law's Sue and Jim Watson, Deb and Doug Scharp and Bobby and Ed Armbruster and many special cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Brenda; father-in-law Robert Jones; and brother-in-law Patrick Moore.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the compassion shown to Bruce while being cared for by the staff of Jackson Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital, Hospice of Hillsdale County and all those who helped us especially these last few months.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 3 p.m. at The First Congregational Church of Pittsford in Pittsford with a luncheon to follow. Arrangements are entrusted to VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
