Bernard J. "Barney" Pohl

Bernard J. "Barney" Pohl, age 87, of Quincy, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater surrounded by his family. He was born August 15, 1930 in Ottoville, Ohio to Frank and Elizabeth (Calavage) Pohl. Barney married Eunice Siefker on January 19, 1957 and she survives.
Together with his wife, Barney owned and operated the Cottonwood Resort at Marble Lake in Quincy for 43 years. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Coldwater, the Coldwater Elks and United Commercial Travelers. Barney enjoyed wintering in Haines City, Florida, helping on the family farm, raccoon hunting and woodworking, especially building bird houses and nativity scenes.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, Eunice Pohl, Barney is survived by one daughter, Carol (Bob) Elliott of Coldwater; three sons, Roy (Darla) Pohl of Quincy, Keith (Pam) Pohl of Coldwater and Bruce (Lisa) Pohl of Allendale; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six sisters and two brothers.
Barney was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers.
A Memorial Mass for Bernard "Barney" Pohl will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 1:00 PM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Coldwater with Fr. Paul Redmond as celebrant. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the Eagle Funeral Home - George White Chapel in Quincy with a rosary service beginning at 7:30 PM.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School.
