Charles H. Peterson

Charles H. “Chuck” Peterson, 77, of rural Morenci, died at his home on Saturday, May 19, 2018, following an extended period of ailing health. Born May 8, 1941, in Medina, he was the son of the late Henry and Ethelee (Heckman) Peterson. He married the love of his life, Greta Williams, on May 19, 1962, at the Morenci Congregational Church, and she survives. His passing marks exactly 56 years of joyful marriage.
Chuck worked over 32 years at Hydro Aluminum in Adrian, where he worked in several positions, and retired in 2001. He also worked numerous years for Camburn Electric.
Remembered as a busybody and as a “jack-of-all-trades”, Chuck was mechanically skilled and enjoyed keeping busy repairing various items at home. He loved the sports of hunting and fishing, and he enjoyed many fishing trips on the Great Lakes in addition to annual trips to West Virginia to deer hunt.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Greta, are their daughter, Rebecca (Jerry) Gilbert of Battle Creek, MI; three grandchildren, Jason (Annalisa) Gilbert of Battle Creek, Autumn (Joe) Compton of Fort Wayne, IN, and Wyatt Ludman of Lansing, MI; a great-grandson, Reed Compton; three siblings, Ronnie Peterson of Manitou Beach, Nelson (Tammy) Peterson of Bryan, OH, and Ann (Tom) Norris of Tampa, FL.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three of his brothers, Lester “Ike” Peterson, Howard Peterson, and Duane Peterson.
A funeral service for Charles will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at 3:00 p.m., at the Eagle Funeral Home in Morenci with Pastor Darren Lemmon officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation for two hours preceding the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions in honor of Charles can be made to benefit Great Lakes Caring Hospice, Morenci Fire and Rescue, or the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
