Here are some of the people who will be assisting you with those important decisions.

Brian Barrett President

Brian primarily serves the Litchfield, Reading and Quincy communities, but also assists at all locations.

Brian grew up in Jonesville and graduated from Jonesville High School in 2007. He went on to attend Central Michigan University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics Management. He received his Mortuary Science degree from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 2012 and became a 4th generation Eagle family funeral director and is the son of John and Jill (Eagle) Barrett. Brian is a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hillsdale and on the Board of Directors for Hospice of Hillsdale County. Brian married Sydney (Dow) in 2010 and together they have two sons, Brady and Bennett and a daughter, Brogan. Brian enjoys playing golf, exercising and boating.

Shea Dow Vice President

Shea primarily serves the Hillsdale and Jonesville communities, but also assists at all locations.

Shea grew up in Jonesville and graduated from Jonesville High School in 2004. He then went on to Michigan State University where he earned his B.A. degree in Supply Chain Management in 2008 and later received his Mortuary Science degree from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 2009. Shea started in the business in the summer of 2007 while attending Michigan State University. He is involved with the Hillsdale Hospital Membership Corporation, Hillsdale Elks Lodge, Hillsdale County Michigan State University Alumni Club and is a member and elder of the Jonesville First Presbyterian Church. Shea and his wife, Emily (Bell) reside in Jonesville and have one daughter, Dylan and one son, Conner Dow.

John Barrett Funeral Director/Former Owner

John primarily serves the Hillsdale and Jonesville communities but also assists at all locations.

John started in the business in 1978 while working part time and attending Hillsdale College. After graduating from Hillsdale College in 1981 he married Jill (Eagle) and moved to Cincinnati to attend Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. After graduation from mortuary college he and Jill moved back to Jonesville and started a family that includes three children; Emily Osborne, a Michigan State University graduate currently employed at Comerica Bank as a Vice President AML Retail Compliance Manager Financial Intelligence Department and residing in Livonia with her husband, Terry, son, Barrett and daughter, Britton; Dr. Abbie Taipalus, a Michigan State University graduate currently a School Psychologist at Hillsdale County ISD and residing in Hillsdale with her husband John and daughter, Blake; and Brian, a Central Michigan University and Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science graduate and is now the 4th generation owner of Eagle Funeral Homes and resides in Jonesville with his wife, Sydney (Dow) sons, Brady and Bennett and daughter, Brogan. John is a member of the Hillsdale Elks Club, Jonesville Rotary Club and Knights of Columbus. He is a former member of the Hillsdale County Community Foundation and Hillsdale Chamber of Commerce. John also serves on the Board of Directors of County National Bank. John and Jill attend St. Anthony Catholic Church. John also enjoys camping and golfing.

Mark Monahan Funeral Director/Former Owner

Mark grew up on a family operated dairy farm south of Hudson. He graduated from Hudson High School, then went on to Michigan State University where he earned his B.S. degree in Packaging Engineering. He received his Mortuary Science degree from Wayne State University. He was employed with United Parcel Service for twelve years prior to joining the Eagle Funeral Home staff in 1994. Mark is married to Jana (Eagle) and they have four children; David (Denise), a Siena Heights College graduate employed at UPS, Alyson (Kysha),  Johnathan and Ashley (Josh) Warner. Mark has four grandchildren, Brynley and Brayden Monahan and Joelle and Luke Warner.  Mark and his family are members of Sacred Heart Church. His hobbies include golfing, and outdoor activities with his family.

Dustin Chapman Funeral Director

Serving the Litchfield, Reading and Quincy communities.

Dustin grew up in Litchfield and graduated from Litchfield High School in 2008. He went on to attend Kalamazoo Valley Community College where he earned his Associates degree in Fire Science. He then received his Bachelor’s of Mortuary Science from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 2012. Dustin is married to Kristen (McCoy) and has two sons, Cameron and Weston, and one daughter, Raegan.

Emily Rhoda Funeral Director

Emily primarily serves the Hillsdale and Jonesville communities, but also assists at all locations

Emily grew up in Munster, Indiana where she graduated from Munster High School in 2015. She attended Indiana University for a short time before receiving her Associates of Applied Science from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 2020.  In the spring of 2020, Emily began her apprenticeship with Eagle Funeral Homes.  Upon the completion of her apprenticeship in the summer of 2021, Emily continutes to serve the  Hillsdale and Jonesville communities as a licensed funeral director.

Madison Donbrock Funeral Director

Madison primarily serves the Hillsdale and Jonesville communities, but also assists at all locations.

Madison was born and raised on Donbrock Farms in Coldwater and graduated from Coldwater High School in 2016. She attended Jackson College for two years, and was a member of the women’s golf team. She attended Michigan State University for two years and then went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in Mortuary Science from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in December of 2021.  Madison began her apprenticeship at Eagle Funeral Homes in January of 2022, where she continues to serve as a licensed funeral director.  Madison resides in Reading, Michigan and has been in a relationship with Logan Widlitzki, since 2017. Madison enjoys golfing, bowling, and spending time with her family, especially her nephew, Carson.

Kanda Jones Serving the Litchfield, Quincy and Reading Communities

Kanda grew up in Jonesville where she graduated from Jonesville High School in 1983 and then went on to attend Jackson Community College. She lives in Jonesville with her husband, Scott and they have three children, Kayla (Rich) Paille of Ortonville, Cody (Molly) Jones of Spring Lake and Kristyn (Jim) Taipalus of Jonesville. Kanda loves spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, Conrad, Oliver, Ryker, Charlotte and Laken.  She also enjoys working in her flower beds and helping others.

Rick Gordon Advanced Funeral Planning Specialist

Pre-Planning Specialist in Hillsdale, Jonesville, Litchfield, Quincy, and Reading locations.

Rick was born and raised in Hillsdale County and graduated from North Adams High School in 1970. He just recently took an early retirement after 33 years in the Food Industry. Rick and his wife, Phyllis live in the Hillsdale area and have raised 3 children. Dr Daniel B. Gordon DDS and (Cherese) of Hudsonville with their 6 children, Bryan J. Gordon of Hillsdale graduated from Spring Arbor University with degrees in Biology and Sports Education, and Dr Matthew D. Gordon DC and (Stephanie) of Hillsdale. Rick and Phyllis enjoy gardening and working in their yard. The Gordon’s are members of the Hillsdale Free Methodist Church where Rick serves on numerous boards and outreach committees. Rick’s favorite job now along with meeting and helping families pre-plan is spending time with their grand children.

Don Jewell Funeral Director

Don serves the Hillsdale and Jonesville communities.

Don is a fourth generation funeral director and former owner of the Jewell Funeral Home in Sandusky, Michigan. He attended Central Michigan University and graduated from Wayne State University's Department of Mortuary Science in 1971. Don and his wife, Mary Jo, reside in Hillsdale. They have four children; Jennifer, an ultra sound technician in Sandusky, Michigan; Chris, a group manager for Case New Holland in Naperville, Illinois; Ben, a middle school science teacher who received the 2010 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science, teaching in Hudsonville, Michigan; and Kathy, a neonatal intensive care nurse in Grand Rapids. All four of their children are married with families of their own accounting for a total of 10 grandchildren. Don is a board member for Hospice of Hillsdale County. Don & Mary Jo attend St. Anthony Catholic Church. Don enjoys sharing time with his family, computer technology, boating and traveling.

Marvin Shull Funeral Service Coordinator

Serving the Hillsdale and Jonesville communities.

Marv started with Van Horn-Eagle Funeral Home in 1960. He grew up in the Hillsdale County area and is a graduate of Camden-Frontier High School. Marv lives in Hillsdale with his wife, Sue. They have three children and nine grandchildren. He is a member of the Hillsdale Free Methodist Church. He enjoys traveling, sports and spending time with his family.

Alan Fenstermaker Funeral Service Coordinator

Serving the Reading community

As a graduate of Reading High School in 1964, Alan has served the Reading community and surrounding areas for almost 20 years with the George White Funeral Homes. Having been a former pastor in Georgia, this career has been an opportunity to encourage people in their time of need. Married to Judy for 40 years, they have 3 children, Jessica, Joshua, and Angela. With their spouses, Steve, Tennille, and Jason, these unions have produced 9 grandchildren ranging from 1-1/2 to 13 years of age. Alan has been a member of Cambria Baptist Church for over 30 years and has served in various capacities, especially as Commander of the AWANA youth program for 23 years. During these years, he has seen much growth in preparing leaders for tomorrow.

Shea Dow
